Costumes are a Cosmetic Clothing Item type in Sea of Thieves, which can be equipped through the Clothing Chest. Costumes are purely cosmetic elements of a Pirate and generally add no in-game benefits. A Costume covers the whole Player Pirate's body, with most of them overriding Clothing Cosmetics. Some Costumes allow Players to still customise their Hair, Beards, Hair Dyes, Tattoos, Scars, Makeup and Curses.
Crew Costumes are unique, but matching Costume Sets. When a Player has purchased a Crew Costume Set, they will gain access to the whole Set of Costumes, as well as give all of their Crew-Mates access to the Crew costumes in their Clothing Chest.
Some Costumes have Costume Emotes that are Emotes only accessible for the player who has equipped a specific Costume. Costume Emotes can be accessed from the Emote Radial Menu when a Costume with Emotes is equipped.
