The Ghost Ship is a type of Enemy from the Sea of the Damned brought forth into the world by a powerful summoner such as Flameheart or Davy Jones. These ships usually appear in large fleets headed by Ghost Captain Ships. Ghost Ships can be encountered during Ghost Ship Voyages, Ghost Fleet World Events, the Legend of the Veil voyage, certain time-limited Adventures, or the Lords of the Sea Tall Tale.

Encounter[]

Ghost Fleet Ashen Dragon

The Ashen Dragon makes an appearance during the Ghost Fleet.

Ghost Ships can appear as a part of three encounters:

Mechanics[]

Ghost Mine

Ghost Ship leaves behind Ghost Mines when in front of Player Ships.

Trajectory
Ghost Ships assemble in a fleet circling either a single Large Island, a large coral spire in Lords of the Sea, or a Ghost Garrison during the Legend of the Veil voyage, in group formations. These ships don't stray from their trajectories and keep circling on, phasing through obstacles like rocks or Ships.
Combat
A Ghost Ship will shoot Ghostly Cannonballs at any player ships in their firing range and leave behind Explosive ghostly Mines when ships are behind them. Ghost Ships encountered in the World Event or Voyages will occasionally Fiery Red Phantoms or the dreaded Wraith Cannonball.
Collision
A Ghost Ship can be damaged by any Cannon-fired projectiles—even from inside—creating holes in the apparition. During "collision", the player ship will be dealt continuous damage to the Hull.
Teleport
Sometimes when a Ghost Ship sails too far away, it will portal into a closer position of its enemy.
Shockwave
When a Ghost Ship is defeated, it will explode with a shockwave that will knock back nearby ships (except other Ghost Ships).

Notes[]

  • Ghost Ships are not damaged by collisions of any kind (whether it be a ship or an island), nor does it take damage from Gunpowder Barrels.
  • Ghost Ships cannot be damaged during transit through a portal.
  • Ghost Ships can and will fire upon Skeleton Ships.
  • Ghost Ships starts releasing ghostly particles when badly damaged and their hulls will show gaping holes.

Types of Ghost Ships[]

There are many variants of Ghost Ship, all of which are destroyed only by projectiles via Cannon hits.

1. Grunt Ship (3 Cannonball hits)

The basic ship looking worse for wear.

2. Ghost Flagship (10 Cannonball hits)

A full-sailed ship decorated with Pennants that appears during the final encounter of Ghost Ship Voyages.

3. Ghost Captain Ship (24 Cannonball hits)

This ship sports the Ghost Captain Sails, appearing as the final encounter of Ghost Ship Voyages with variable health depending on the difficulty of the Voyage. It is accompanied by two Grunt Ships.

4. Ghostly Ashen Dragon Ship (10 Cannonball hits)

This ship sports the Sails of the Ashen Dragon, appearing during the boss waves of the Ghost Fleet World Event. It is accompanied by two Grunt Ships.

5. The Burning Blade (24 Cannonball hits)

Flameheart's Ship, sporting the Burning Blade Sails, is the final boss of the Ghost Fleet World Event. This ship has a more visible outline than the Ghostly Ashen Dragon Ship. It is accompanied by four Grunt Ships.

6. Ghost Brethren Ship (3 Cannonball hits)

This is the Grunt Ship equivalent summoned during Lords of the Sea, the difference is that it fires only ghostly apparitions of normal cannonballs instead of the usual suite of Ghostly Cannonballs.

7. Ghost Brethren Captain Ship (10 Cannonball hits)

This is the Ghost Captain Ship equivalent summoned during Lords of the Sea, with the same cannonball restriction as the Ghost Bretheren Ship.

8. Haunted Fort Ghost Ship (3 Cannonball hits)

This is the Grunt Ship equivalent summoned during Legend of the Veil voyage, with the main differences is that it bears the Imperial Sovereign Sails, and has the same cannonball restriction as the Ghost Bretheren Ships during Lords of the Sea. Any of these ghost ships guarding a Ghost Garrison Emplacement will be immediately defeated upon destroying the Emplacement they are guarding, while the ghost ships protecting the main Ghost Garrison will retreat after the Ghost Garrison itself has been levelled.

Rewards[]

Ghost Loot Wraiths

Any Treasure dropped by Ghost Ships will be circled with Wraiths.

A Ghost Ship mainly drops Ghostly Treasure items that are marked by swirling phantoms above the water.
