Guardians of Fortune is one of the two Factions in Sea of Thieves that fights for freedom. Formed by the Pirate Lord, the Guardians of Fortune defend the seas from the Servants of the Flame. Pirate Legends who become Champion Guardians have access to a new expansion to the Athena's Fortune Hideout and can receive the Blessing of Athena's Fortune.
The Faction & Hideout[]
The Guardians of Fortune is a Faction accessible to everyone, but offers rewards and access to the expanded hideout specifically to Pirate Legends who have earned 100 allegiance. Inside the expanded hideout, players can meet Samuel the Bard, who is the chronicler for the Guardians of Fortune. His job as chronicler is to tell pirates how the battle is going. Next to him is a map that will show all of the Faction ships on a server. You can also find Gloria in the expanded hideout, who is the emissary representative for Athena's Fortune. Belle and Merrick also reside in the expanded hideout. Champion Guardians will receive their Blessing of Athena's Fortune from them.

Allegiance, Hourglass of Fate & the War Map[]
Players earn allegiance by defeating Servants of the Flame ships as Guardians. To join the Guardians of Fortune, Crews must vote on the Hourglass of Fate in their ship's cabin. Players serving the Guardians of Fortune have two choices on how they wish to serve their chosen Faction: to be passive or go aggressive.
- Players who wish to be passive can perform their usual activities (Voyages, World Events, etc). Passive players have to be wary though, for Servants of the Flame can attack at any moment. Players who are are passive can stack loot aboard their ship to earn additional allegiance should they win a battle against the Servants.
- Players who wish to attack can vote on the war map. Once the majority of the crew has voted, sail out to open seas to dive deep into the water. After matchmaking, your ship will rise out of the water near a Servants' ship. This is where the battle begins.
If you win a battle, you earn a lot of allegiance. If you lose, however, you will still earn allegiance, but not as much as you would have earned had you won. (this should be 14 losses per level until level 100)
Streaks & Emissary Grade[]
Players can increase the allegiance they earn by having streaks and an emissary flag raised. Streaks are earned by winning battles. If you win up to four battles in a row, you'll be marked on the map as a Champion ship. Having an emissary flag raised can also increase your allegiance, if you are at grade two or higher. If you sink, you will lose your streak and will have to start over.
Commendations[]
Most of the Guardians of Fortune Commendations are only unlocked when a player has the Blessing of Athena's Fortune.
