Ironically, in-game Islehoppers seem to be non-violent in nature, serving as pets for Merfolk.
The Islehopper Outlaw Pistol's in-game description suggests that Islehopper Outlaws seem to be either non-verbal or less intelligent than other pirates.
One of the major inspirations behind the set is the post-apocalyptic film series Mad Max.
The Islehopper became the chosen theme as a way to tie the spiked nature of the set with existing aspects of the Sea of Thieves world.
The Islehopper Outlaw Costume was the first part of the set to be created, and inspired the design direction for the rest of the set.
The Islehopper Outlaw set is the first cosmetic line that changes colour and even illuminates in the dark.
