Port Merrick, also known as New Golden Sands Outpost and formerly Golden Sands Outpost, is one of seven outposts and located is within the region of The Shores of Plenty at coordinate D-10.

During the Lost Sands Adventure, the community had a choice to save the outpost by delivering supplies to Merrick, or leave it in ruins by helping The Servant of the Flame deliver Relic Caches and detonating Soulflame Rowboats at the outpost. On June 9th, 2022, the final results of the adventure were declared and Golden Sands Outpost was to be rebuilt.

With the release of 2.5.3, it became New Golden Sands Outpost and was back in business with all traders returning and buildings reconstructed.

After the release of 2.7.0, major construction works started around the outpost; old buildings and trees were being progressively leveled along with significant terraforming work to transform the sandy archipelago Outpost into a fortified, bustling port town. The last phase of construction concluded on 2.8.1, officially inaugurating the new town as Port Merrick.

Description[]

The Outpost consists of a fortified settlement built on what used to be a small group of sandy islets, with several docks and wharfs connected to each other by bridges. The central wharf is dominated by an extensive inn named The Captain's Head, formerly the Outpost's tavern, surrounded by several buildings housing shops. The eastern wharf hosts a secondary dock with a towering lighthouse, while the western wharf is entierly under the Sovereigns' occupancy. The main dock is located outside town on the north-western islet, where the Trading Companies representatives are also located in their own dedicated buildings. Below the fortifications can be found a sewer network through which Rowboats may sail and tunnels for easier navigation around the Outpost.

A commemorative statue of Merrick resides on the central warth just north-east of the tavern.

The Outpost also offers rowboat docking stations on the wharfs of its central, east and west islands, allowing players to easily access its fortifications.

  • Outposts are where crews and their ships spawn when beginning a game, or sometimes after their ship is sunk.
  • Outposts contain shops where items can be purchased. Each Outpost contains one of each Shop, some with their own unique items.
  • Representatives of Trading Companies can be found at outposts, from whom crews can pick up Voyages. Players can also represent these companies as Emissaries by using Emissary Tables.
