The Whispering Bayou is a location within the Sea of the Damned visited during the Captains of the Damned Tall Tale. Upon entering The Whispering Bayou, players can hear banjo renditions of Shanties including Yo Ho, Bosun Bill, and Maiden Voyage that fade out over a short time. The Bayou may be navigated by following Jack's Compass or traveling towards Swamp People and newly ignited soul flame torches.

Notes[]
- The Whispering Bayou can be exited by either lighting all lanterns and candles around Tia Dalma's Shack and sailing out through the revealed exit or by canceling the Captains of the Damned Tall Tale.
- Maximum sailing speed is significantly slower within The Whispering Bayou than elsewhere within the Sea of Thieves
- This effect is felt again later in the Captains of the Damned Tall Tale while sailing through a cave connecting the Fort of Lost Souls to Isla Tesoro
Trivia[]
- The Whispering Bayou is based on the Pantano River and surrounding cypress forest from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. The Pantano River bayou is itself based on the Blue Bayou from the original Disneyland ride. The Blue Bayou shipwreck and use of banjo in The Whispering Bayou's music are references to this.
