Tunnels of the Damned are used as a travel mechanic that transports players and their ship from one world to another. One of these large rocky arches can be found nearby to each Outpost. A crew's Emissary status, resources, Resource Crates and Storage Crates will remain through travel, however treasure and Trident of Dark Tides will not.

Usage[]

The Tunnels of the Damned are used during A Pirate's Life and Captains of the Damned of the A Pirate's Life collection of Tall Tales as well as The Legend of Monkey Island Tall Tales and also the Hunter's Cry Adventure to transport crews and their ships to the Sea of the Damned. When returning through a Tunnel of the Damned back into The Sea of Thieves, the crew and ship will be placed within a server different the one which they originally began on.

While in the Sea of the Damned, canceling the active Tall Tale will immediately eject the ship back through the tunnel into the Sea of Thieves.

Notes[]

  • Starting A Pirate's Life (Quest) takes 3:00 minutes to open the tunnel, starting Captains of the Damned takes 2:45 minutes but requires interacting with Gibbs before the tunnel can open. Starting from a checkpoint of either of these Tall Tales will open the tunnel immediately.
  • Although a ship won't lose their Emissary status when sailing into a Tunnel of the Damned, a copy of the Emissary Flag will be left at the entrance of the portal like any onboard Treasure would.
  • If a Player Pirate is carrying a Resource Crate or Storage Crate upon entering a Tunnel of the Damned, it will be lost.
  • It's occasionally possible to clip outside the invisible walls surrounding the ship with a Rowboat, by way of the "step into rowboat" prompt.
