Voyages are thematic collections of Quests that players can choose to embark upon in Sea of Thieves. Voyages can be purchased from Trading Companies or the Black Market at all Outposts. Players have to put purchased Voyages up for a vote on the Voyage Table. Each Company provides different types of Voyages of varying difficulties.

Mechanics[ | ]

Voyages can be purchased from Trading Company Representatives and the Black Market at any Outpost. Any bought Voyages will be placed in the Player Pirate's Voyage Inventory, which is accessed through the Pirate Menu. A Voyage Inventory can hold up to 3 regular Trading Company Voyages and a single copy of any Mercenary Voyage. When the Voyage Inventory is full (with 3 or more Voyages) players can no longer purchase regular Voyages. Any held Voyages can be discarded from the Voyage Inventory.

In order to begin a Voyage, Player Pirates have to interact with the Ship's Voyage Table and put down a Voyage from their Voyage Inventory for voting. If the Crew has only one Player Pirate, the Voyage will begin immediately; if not, the Voyage has to receive a majority vote to begin. Once voted for, the Voyage will become active, indicated with a title card for the Voyage. A Voyage Table can have up to four Voyages put up for a vote, but only one active Voyage on it. Voyages can also be put on the Table by Pirates from other Alliance Crews.

A single Voyage is usually composed of a variable amount of Quests and Chapters. The difficulty, number of Maps and the overall length of Voyages purchased from the Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls and Merchant Alliance increase with the Player Pirate's purchased Promotions with the respective Companies. The number of Quests and Chapters or the difficulty of other Voyages are usually determined by the type of Voyage itself. A multi-chapter Voyage is indicated by a "Chapter One" appearing on the title card of the activated Voyage. These Voyages present Quests in Chapters, with next chapters appearing only when all the Quests of the previous Chapter are completed. The completion of a Chapter is always indicated with another title card, with the last chapter always being introduced as the "Final Chapter". Once a Voyage is complete, a final Title Card will be presented to indicated its completion.

Player Crews can cancel any Voyage by voting on canceling at the Voyage Table. This action also requires the majority of votes to pass.

Once selected, the type of a Voyage is visible on the Voyage Table for all Crews to see.

Aside from a single Voyage, Player Crews can also have a single Tall Tale active at the same time.

Types of Voyages[ | ]

Voyages are generally themed around the Trading Company that provides them, sending Player Crews in search of Treasure Items, locations or NPCs relevant to the Company. Most Voyages take part in the three main Regions of The Sea of Thieves, although Devil's Roar Voyages can be purchased at Morrow's Peak Outpost that are focused in The Devil's Roar Region.

Gold Hoarders Voyages[ | ]

Gold Hoarders Voyages are tied to the Gold Hoarders Trading Company and can be purchased from Hoarder NPCs at any Outpost.

Treasure Map Voyages[ | ]

Treasure Map Voyages are themed around receiving multiple Treasure Maps and Riddle Maps and solving their puzzles to find buried Treasure Chests. The difficulty, number of Maps and Chapters within the Voyage will scale with any purchased Gold Hoarder Promotions. These Voyages require Players to make use of their Lanterns, Instruments and Compasses to solve any Riddle Maps and Shovels to dig up the buried Treasure. The Voyage Treasure Maps will have one to multiple X's that always uncover Treasure Chests and the Riddle Maps will have 2 to 4 Riddles that uncover a Collector's Chest with Gold and Trinkets inside. All of these Treasure Items can be sold to the Gold Hoarders Representatives at any Outpost for Gold and Reputation. The Voyages are considered complete once all the Quests of the Final Chapter are completed.

Wayfinder Voyages[ | ]

Wayfinder Voyages are sold to any Pirates who have reached the Rank 25 Promotion with the Gold Hoarders. These Voyages give players access to a Wayfinder Compass that leads them to the burial location of a Treasure Vault Key. These Keys can be sold or used to unlock a Gold Hoarder Treasure Vault.

Ashen Hoarder Voyages[ | ]

Players can purchase Ashen versions of Treasure Map Voyages and Wayfinder Voyages at Morrow's Peak Outpost in The Devil's Roar, which take them to various Islands in the Volcanic Region. These maps will reward players with the more valuable, Ashen versions of Treasure Chests and Artefacts.

Onboarding Voyage[ | ]

The Onboarding Voyage is an introductory Voyage offered by the Gold Hoarders. This Voyage can only be bought and placed on a Voyage Table by new Player Pirates who have just arrived from their Maiden Voyage. The Onboarding Voyage teaches players how to buy, vote for and complete Voyages.

Merchant Alliance Voyages[ | ]

Merchant Voyages are tied to the Merchant Alliance Trading Company and can be purchased from Senior Trader NPCs at any Outpost. Merchant Voyages are themed around retrieving and delivering Cargo and Trade Goods by a set date and time, which can be tracked with a Pocket Watch. The difficulty of these Voyages scale with any purchased Merchant Alliance Promotions, but the number of Quests and Chapters will always be one. The Voyages are complete once the Commissions are fulfilled or the contracts expire.

Trade Good Voyages[ | ]

Trade Good Voyages will provide Player Crews with a single Merchant Contract Quest for a set amount of Animals or Gunpowder Barrels to be delivered to a specific Outpost by a set time. These Animals have to be captured inside Animal Crates and kept alive. The amount of required Animal Crates are always provided by any Senior Trader NPCs at Outposts. The higher the Player Pirate's Promotion level, the higher the number of items for delivery.

Cargo Runs[ | ]

Cargo Runs will provide Player Crews with a single Cargo Map Quest, which requests the pick-up and delivery of a number of Cargo Crates from and to a specific NPC. The Cargo Crates can be picked up from and delivered to any of the Shopkeeper, Tavern or Merchant Alliance NPCs on an Outpost or any stranded NPCs on Large Islands. The recipient NPC and delivery date are always marked on the Cargo Crates. The conditions of these Crates can degrade and have to be taken care of to earn more Gold for delivery. The higher the Player Pirate's Promotion level, the higher the number of items for delivery.

Ashen Cargo Runs[ | ]

Any Player Crews that find themselves in The Devil's Roar region can also attempt to take on Ashen Cargo Runs, which they can purchase from Morrow's Peak Outpost. These Voyages require players to pick up and deliver the more fragile, yet valuable Ashen variants of Cargo Crates within The Devil's Roar region.

Lost Shipments[ | ]

Lost Shipments are available at Merchant Alliance rank 25 and will provide Player Crews with a single Trade Route Map, which shows the route of a previous unfortunate merchant ship. Player Crews will need to follow the route in search of birds circling debris of the ship which contains hints as to the sunken ship's current location.

Order of Souls Voyages[ | ]

Order of Souls Voyages are tied to the Order of Souls Trading Company and can be purchased from Madames inside Order tents at any Outpost. Order of Souls Voyages are themed around combat, tasking Crews to take on otherworldly threats and retrieve their cursed Skulls. These Skulls hide the memories of the cursed captains that Order mystics can extract. The difficulty of the Voyages scales with Order of Souls Promotions. The Voyages are considered complete when all threats are taken out.

Bounty Voyages[ | ]

Bounty Voyages send Player Crews in hunt of Skeleton Captains and their Skeleton Crews to retrieve their Bounty Skulls for the Order. Bounty Voyages give Players Bounty Maps with 1-4 Crews per Island. The difficulty, number of Maps and Chapters within the Voyage scales with Order of Souls Promotion ranks. Depending on the Skeleton types, Order of Souls Voyages require Players to make use of their Lanterns, Buckets and Weapons. Any received Bounty Skulls can be sold to Order of Souls Representatives at any Outpost for Gold and Reputation. The Voyages are considered complete if all the Quests of the final chapter are finished.

Ashen Bounty Voyages[ | ]

Ghost Ship Voyages give Players one Ghost Ship Maps leading to a single Large Island. These Maps always consist of two waves: The Grunt Ship wave and the Ghost Captain Ship wave. The difficulty of the Voyage is dependent on the Promotion of the Player who purchased the Voyage. Higher level Voyages require Crews to defeat more Grunt Ships and determine the health of the Captain Ship. Any received Bounty Skulls can be sold to Order of Souls Representatives at any Outpost for Gold and Reputation. The Voyages are considered complete if the Ghost Captain Ship is sunk

Ashen Athena's Voyages[ | ]

These Voyages are a more lucrative, but difficult version of regular Athena's Fortune Voyages, taking players throughout The Devil's Roar Region and offering higher value Ashen Treasure (topped off with an Ashen Chest of Legends). Unlike other Ashen Voyages that can only be bought at Morrow's Peak Outpost, these Voyages are also provided by the Pirate Lord at Athena's Fortune Hideout,

Mercenary Voyages[ | ]

Mercenary Voyages are various Voyages with mixed Quests and Objectives provided by the Bilge Rats at their Black Market in every Tavern. These Voyages vary in Quest types, locations, Chapter numbers and Treasure to match the most recent events and send Player Crews on new Bilge Rat Adventures. While Mercenary Voyages have Treasure rewards included in them, many of the Voyages also count for various Commendations, which can unlock time-limited Titles or Cosmetics when completed.
